Enhancements in EdgeCAM 11
include a ‘Round Corners’ option that enables the user
to machine parts containing low curvature regions, and
an additional collision option to check against shank
offset.

EdgeCAM's new 4-and 5-Axis strategies can help you
use your multi-axis machines to their full capabilities.
New Hole cycle expands
functionality
In keeping with
advancements for mill/turn, EdgeCAM’s hole cycle
supports:
- Automatic Feature
Recognition of radial and conical holes, reducing
need for manual selection
- Fully associative
machining of radial holes on conical/cylindrical
faces
- Automatic index alignment
for hole features
- Enhanced ordering of
holes
Superior solids
machining:
EdgeCAM 11 introduces
additional features for streamlining solids-based
manufacturing:
- Support for Open Pockets
will full associativity to the model
- Machining of open pockets
using EdgeCAM’s Roughing or Profiling cycles
utilizing Feature Based Machining
- “Align Body for Milling”
– transforming a solid body and aligning to the
current CPL for milling, making it fast and easy to
position complex solids
Improved boundary
control for milling cycles
EdgeCAM offers a full range
of high performance milling strategies to minimize cycle
times and maximize tool life, while ensuring a high
quality surface finish. EdgeCAM 11 includes enhancements
that offer greater toolpath control:
- Improved boundary control
with ability to offset a boundary by a specified
value relative to the tool. This maintains
associativity and removes the need to create
additional boundaries manually.
- Separate boundary control
for Rest Roughing has been introduced and allows for
the use of different boundaries to contain each rest
roughing operation.
- 3D edge loop features may
now be used as fully associative boundaries
Additional
developments
In addition, this
latest release includes a number of new features
designed to ensure a faster and more efficient way of
working:
- New tool optimization
ensures ordering is maintained when merging and
rationalising machining sequences
- Support for AutoCAD 2006
files
- Y-Axis capability now
fully supported on lower turret lathe configurations
- Simulator target part
comparison in Simultaneous 5 Axis Machining
- Updated help files for
EdgeCAM ToolStore, Technology Assistant, Toolkit
Assistant and Job Manager.
