When machining, the component will generally be hindered by clamps, chucks, vices etc. In Edgecam you can define these as fixtures. In version 2009 R2, the Roughing cycle has been enhanced to automatically recognise and avoid collisions against fixtures. |
|
Use the new Check Fixtures options in the General tab to control and de-gouge the roughing cycle against pre-defined fixtures. When Use Check Fixtures is enabled, the cycle will look to the last ‘Update Fixtures’ command in the machining sequence and collision check against those fixtures.
Additional options allow you to specify offsets against fixtures. These are independent of the normal Offset settings in the cycle and are only available when Use Check Fixtures is enabled.
Fixture checking also brings advantages for Strategy Manager users. In the past, you often would create containment boundaries to avoid machining areas where there are fixtures. When working with strategies, this 'workaround' is not available. The new fixture checking functionality allows strategies to be aware of fixtures when roughing.
Please note that this option:
Does not support parametric fixtures.
Is not available on entry level licenses.
