Safer Indexing

In Edgecam 2009 R2, enhancements to existing modifiers and new options improve the safe approach of the tool after an index move. (For machines that can rotate the head this also ensures the approach moves do not overtravel the axis limits.)

  • The Rapid 3D option (on the General tab of the Edit Sequence dialog) now works correctly. Code Wizard templates have been updated to handle Tool Length Offset (G43) calls correctly.

  • New Safety Zone options have been added to the Index and Lathe Index commands, allowing you to specify a safety clearance around the component. You choose between Level, Radius and Sphere (similar to the 5-Axis clearance type).

  • To allow the safety zones to be used by other commands that can index the tool, such as the Hole cycle, the Safety Zone options have been added to the (Milling Cutter) toolchange command.

  • Safety Zone options have also been added to the Hole operation. This helps to achieve the operation's new ability to machine holes in different planes.

(Note that the 'Aligning CPL' indexing messages are now displayed in the Feedback window, as these were previously causing interruptions.)
