5-Axis Simultaneous Machining - Checking Linear Axis Limits

When generating the toolpath, the Five Axis cycle now checks the linear (as well as rotary) limits of the machine.

A 5-Axis cycle always has two theoretical solutions for machining a part. If the first solution is outside the linear limits the second solution will be used. If that solution is also outside the linear limits, an error message is displayed.

Check the Five Axis cycle ► Tool Axis Control tab ► Ignore Linear Limits option to ignore the linear limits.

You may want to use this:

  • to ensure existing parts, where the limits have not been set correctly in the code generator, continue to work.

  • to run the cycle without any limit checks to determine where the problem lies. You may be able to correct the problem, by changing the part location on the machine tool or adjusting the cycle to stay within limits, for example.
