Client License Server (CLS) Installation

From Edgecam 2009 R2, the Client License Server (CLS) is installed as a separate application from Edgecam.

CLS is installed automatically when you install Edgecam or Edgecam Part Modeler. By default, CLS is installed into C:\Program Files\Common Files\Planit\2009.20\cls.

In the rare event of the automatic installation failing, manually start the CLS installation by running the setup.exe program in the \CLS folder of the Edgecam DVD.

Edgecam 2009 R2 and the Keyless Standalone License

To run Edgecam, the license file (lservrc) used by your keyless standalone license needs to be stored in the CLS folder (see above). Depending on your installation (new or upgrade) the scenario is as follows:

Installing Edgecam 2009 R2 as a New Installation

If you are installing Edgecam 2009 R2 as a new installation, either as the only installation on your PC or alongside an existing installation, the files will be installed into the correct folders automatically. No action is required.

Upgrading Edgecam 2009 R1 to 2009 R2

Your Edgecam 2009 R1 software is installed in C:\Program Files\Edgecam (in a default installation, your actual location may be different).

When you install Edgecam 2009 R2 and select the option to upgrade the existing installation:

Edgecam is installed into C:\Program Files\Edgecam (overwriting the previous installation fileset)

CLS is installed into C:\Program Files\Common Files\Planit\2009.20\cls

As CLS is installed in a different location, the license file (lservrc) in C:\Program Files\Edgecam\cam folder will no longer work.

The recommended method to license 2009 R2 is to run Activate License from the 2009 R2 CLS menu. Please refer to the Installation Guide for details.

Alternatively, copy the lservrc file from the C:\Program Files\Edgecam\cam folder to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Planit\2009.20\CLS folder.
